Business Availability Services make up a variety of services that can be provided to the HomeNet membership on an on- going basis. The initial service offered is the Security and Intrusion Detection Service and would be offered as a value added service to the HomeNet membership.

The initial service that is included in the HomeNet pricing is the Security and Intrusion Detection Service. Additional BAS offerings could be provided on a discounted fee basis.

Security and Intrusion Detection Service (BAS) consists of System Monitoring and Maintenance on a weekly basis. System monitoring ensures your servers operate continuously and safely with Internet, internal devices and workstations. On-going monitoring observes the functionality of the system and services, log files, security aspects and the load of the servers.

The monitoring is handled over a secure network connection, which minimizes any security risks in the network connection. Through remote monitoring, the goal is to take care of maintenance operations, for example, low disk space, check for latest service pack requirements or backup failures. Any issues that require immediate attention are forwarded to the internal IT staff immediately.

The goal of maintenance is to make sure that servers operate continuously without interruption. Through expert maintenance we are able to anticipate potential issues and resolve them before problems occur.

System monitoring and maintenance is performed remotely but if required work is to be done on-site, either the internal IT staff will be requested to assist or Failsafe Canada can respond with an on-site technician.

Additional services provided on a monthly basis include security assessment scans of one Internet access point, which will include but not be limited to an extensive port scan identifying ports open to security vulnerabilities. Failsafe Canada recommends additional security assessments be completed when modifications or additions to the firewall are implemented.

BAS consists of the following but is not limited to:

•  Review of server System, Application and Security log files
•  System memory utilization review and monitor reports
•  Server disk space monitoring, utilization and fragmentation reports
•  Firewall logs review and report generation when available
•  Tape backup failure monitoring
•  Hot fixes / Service pack notification and recommendations

Additional BAS offerings could be provided on a discounted fee basis.

EMail ($25.00 per month per HomeNet member)

:: Using Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003 provides secure email/calendaring and contacts.
:: Secure Webmail provided at no additional charge with the same capabilities as the Outlook client.
:: 50 MB of email included $8 per additional 100MB.

Shared Drive ($25.00 per month per HomeNet member)

:: Allow users in disjointed organizations to share a common drive storage.
:: Provides ability to share files between all users in the company securely over the internet.
:: 200 MB included $10 per additional 2 GB.

Patch Management: ($250 per month per HomeNet member)

:: Up to 4 Windows Servers each additional adds $50 to monthly and $90 to weekly.
:: Validate the latest patches to ensure little impact on the servers being applied to.
:: Provide notification of outstanding patches on the server.
:: Optionally install patches on the servers as required.
:: Validate the requirements to install the patches.

Security Policy Analysis/design and Reporting (Quote Basis)

:: Provide customized policy built around discussions with delegates from different departments.
:: Create a Policy Document that can be used to provide to staff and have signed to show acceptance.    

Managed Services

:: Provide the functions of a server to your site.(EMail, Shared Drives)
:: Manage servers at your site $160 / month.
:: Manage a virtual server for you at our site $80 / month.

:: Provide a risk assessment of security vulnerabilities.
